Intro to Feminized seeds.

Feminized cannabis seeds are modified to develop into female-only weed plants in 99% of cases. They’re the go-to for home growers and commercial growers producing marijuana for smoking purposes. How did they come about?

Regular cannabis seeds have XY chromosomes. The Female weed plant seeds contain only the X chromosome.

Female plants yield sinsemilla (buds without seeds) when there’s no male plants around. These buds are rich in cannabinoids and terpenes, tasty, and suitable for consumption.

At one time growers discarded male plants from their grow rooms to get these sought-after female only nuggets. This worked but wasted crops.

Breeders devised a solution to boost cultivation ease and efficiency: removing the male chromosome at the seed level. Now you can develop an all-female marijuana garden. Now you can enjoy nothing but plants bearing seedless, sticky, smokable buds.

Intro to Autoflowering seeds.

Autoflowering Seeds are a great choice for first time seed collectors. This special cannabis seed type has been bred to begin flowering after a certain amount of time and without the need to change lighting schedules. This is a far simpler process than the advanced techniques of encouraging a marijuana plant to flower by slowly and manually reducing the time your crop is exposed to light (the photoperiod) or waiting for the season to change.

Most Autoflowering Cannabis seeds are genetically all-female. In rare cases, growers encounter stressed female hermaphrodites with male flowers or vice versa.

Autoflowering Cannabis develops into crops that mature without specific light cycles. They change between phases automatically. This offers growers quick harvests and cultivation convenience.

Intro to Photoperiod seeds.

Photoperiod describes the number of light hours a plant receives each day. This is important because the number of light hours dictates the growth stage of photoperiod plants. As the plant receives less light during a 24 hrs period, it will start to change her growth cycle from vegetative (growing) to flowering (mature).

It’s this fact that sets all forms of photoperiod cannabis plants apart from autoflowers. Is there more to it? Yes! However, the main takeaway is that photoperiod cannabis plants are sensitive to changes in the length of time they receive light.

  • Photoperiod cannabis plants are said to be slightly more difficult to grow than autoflowering cannabis.

  • Autoflowering seeds tend to grow faster than photoperiod ones, due to their ruderalis genetics.

  • In general, photoperiod cannabis plants produce more smokable flower than autoflowers because of how much larger they tend to grow.

  • Photoperiod seeds come as regular seeds and feminized seeds.

  • 3 Key photoperiod seed growing factors 1. Length of your plant’s vegetative time; 2. The light schedule for veg period; 3. Light schedule for the flowering stage. These factors, among other things, will determine the yield and cannabinoid content of our produced flower.
